New Engineering and Ergonomic Features Built In
At Milipol 2021 in Paris last month, Israel Weapon Industries (IWI – an SK Group company) launched its new ACE-N 52 assault rifle, the latest model in the ACE family. It has an improved ergonomic design, suitable for use with standard AR-10 magazines, including 7.62X51mm ammunition. The family is based on the reliable, proven mechanism of the famous GALIL assault rifle once in service with the IDF. As far as general features are concerned, the ACE-N 52 meets MIL SDT 810 and features a Picatinny rail, to adapt a wide range of equipment. In comparison to previous versions, the new model has human engineering and ergonomics features incorporated into its design.
The company showcased the ACE-N 52 is showcased alongside the ACE 5.56x45mm and 7.62x39mm models. In fact, the ACE-N 52 does not follow the general trend towards composite materials, largely used in the TAVOR family, and maintains a steel core, with some polymers to reduce its weight in comparison to the original GALIL. Despite this, it has become popular worldwide. Its ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions remains unmatched, according to insights from users. Ahead of the exhibition, Ronen Hamudot, Executive VP Marketing and Sales at SK Group and IWI, stated that “as a leader in the field of small arms, IWI constantly continues to develop the most advanced products, according to the changing needs of its customers”. In this case, however, tradition and a sound operational record seem to prevail. The ACE-N 52 promises to remain a staple in the field of assault rifle for years to come.
