Real-Time Comms Network Aimed at First Responder and LE Market
Commtact chose Milipol 2021 in Paris last week to unveil COMMNET, a real-time communications network solution for first responders, large events, and C2 centre teams. Governmental agencies, security forces, or private companies in need of independent, reliable, real-time mobile data-sharing are the solution’s primary market.
Drawing on its experience in the military sector, Commtact developed proprietary wireless technology applied to high-performance software-defined radios (SDRs) within ruggedised body-worn components. COMMNET ensures high-quality low-latency video, voice, and data connectivity between large numbers of end-users over a range of several kilometres. The system supports point-to-point, point-to-multi point and MESH topologies, and a wide range of radio frequencies and channel widths, while delivering high throughput over a secure private network.
Ariel Kandel, CEO of Commtact, told MON during the exhibition that the company established its industrial division two years ago, leveraging its previous experience as subcontractor for prominent Israeli defence firms in the field of data-link systems. This provided Commtact with wide-ranging expertise in solutions envisaged for harsh, rough environments, including difficult arenas characterised by EW activities. Although security and law enforcement applications may appear less demanding, the company also had to cope with strict regulatory frameworks, frequency restrictions, and, often, limitations in available space. The resulting product, according to Kandel, is a cutting-edge reliable communication solution for emergency, medical, and C2 centre teams. Following MILIPOL, COMMNET has already registered strong interest from numerous potential users all over the world.
