Six More UH-60Ms for Air Force
A second batch of six UH-60M BLACKHAWK utility helicopters is undergoing final preparations in the US for delivery to the Mexican Air Force. By contrast with the first batch, delivered in December 2015, these six rotorcraft feature particle filters and FLIR turrets.
In April 2014, SEDENA (the Mexican National Defence Secretariat) and the US government agreed the procurement of 18 Sikorsky UH-60Ms for the Mexican Air Force for a total of $680 million. The contract package included 40 General Electric T700-GE-701D engines, 36 M134 7.62mm Miniguns, navigation systems and support and maintenance equipment. The order was followed by a further request for five helicopters in June 2014 for Mexican Naval Aviation and an additional three in March 2015, which will make a total of 11 helicopters for the service when all delivered.
