Showcased in TRU Light Attack Aircraft Mission Trainer
At the Joint Close Air Support Symposium (JCAS) in Virginia Beach last week, MetaVR’s Virtual Reality Scene Generator (VRSG) and real-time immersive 3D terrain and modelling capabilities were featured in a demonstration by TRU Simulation & Training of its new light attack aircraft mission trainer.
The strike aircraft demonstration showcased an aircrew JCAS training solution, which is compatible (and networkable) with the Joint Terminal Control (JTC) Training and Rehearsal System (TRS). The complex mission scenarios included intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) battlefield reconnaissance, mobile high-value-target (HVT) and find-fix-finish missions.
TRU’s mission trainer provides a cost-effective, reconfigurable, next-generation Forward Air Controller Airborne (FAC-A) and Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) training solution to increase aircrew readiness, effectiveness and safety. In addition to MetaVR’s visuals and 3D content, TRU’s trainer uses commercial-off-the-shelf products from Battlespace Simulations and Immersive Display Solutions.
Also joining the demo was Radiance Technologies, which uses VRSG in its Operator Procedural Trainer (OPT), an ISR operator task trainer. The portable version of the RMF-accredited OPT in the demo was networked with TRU’s mission trainer.
