Operational With USMC
At Modern Day Marine in Washington, DC this week, Smart Shooter will focus visitor attention on its SMASH fire control system (FCS), already in service with the US Marine Corps. Handheld, drone-mounted and robot-mounted variants will be on display.
Both the USMC Warfighting Laboratory Rapid Capabilities Office and Fixed Site Ground Based Air Defense have selected SMASH 2000 for the dismounted counter UAS mission. It can adapt to any rifle and be adjusted to accommodate a standard back-up iron sight if required.
Deployed and combat-proven by multiple armed forces worldwide, SMASH is a small firearms FCS featuring an onboard computer to conduct complex targeting solutions. Once the user identifies the target (independently or using the detection system guidance) and locks on, SMASH tracks its movements and synchronises firing to assure a fast, precise hit. SMASH can be operated as a stand-alone solution, or combined with other systems to provide an effective multi-layer defence solution.
Scott Thompson, General Manager of Smart Shooter, Inc., see the USMC selection “as a sign of proof for the SMASH technology and the added value it provides. Handheld operated, remotely controlled or robotic mounted, the SMASH technology allows tactical forces to be smart, precise and connected.”
