Networked Ecosystem of Sensors and Effectors
MBDA is launching SKY WARDEN, a new flagship counter-UAS (C-UAS) solution, the company announced on 21 February.
Managing the full C-UAS spectrum, from detection to neutralisation, SKY WARDEN is designed to operate both as a component of any layered air defence architecture or in a stand-alone configuration, vehicle-mounted or dismounted. Rather than relying on a single sensor or effector, SKY WARDEN makes use of a networked ecosystem of constantly evolving devices. Modular, scalable and flexible as regards future technology insertion, the system will effectively neutralise all classes of UAS, from micro-drone to large tactical systems, in addition to more traditional airborne threats. The core C2 system provides effects management – coordinating the ecosystem of sensors and both soft- and hard-kill effectors to provide effective and appropriate responses across a potentially large protection perimeter.
“MBDA is uniquely able to offer customers a proven, flexible and integrated C-UAS system. One that is available today, and can evolve into the future. SKY WARDEN embodies MBDA’s deep knowledge of the engagement process, systems integration, of all categories of effectors and their next evolutions, and of effects management in the air defence domain,” commented company CEO, Eric Béranger.
