Dismounted MMP Coupled to NX70 Drone

MBDA has conducted the first demonstration of the LYNKEUS Dismounted systems, which couples the MMP missile in its infantry configuration with a Novadem NX70 drone, the company announced on 21 January.

The demonstration was of a beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) engagement, with the drone detecting and identifying a target beyond the missile operator’s visual range and transmitting trarget coordinates for an indirect engagement. The missile was locked-on to the target during flight by the operator after detection via the video stream from the MMP seeker, which was continuously transmitted to the firing station over fibre optics.

This demonstration, which ended with a direct hit on the target, confirms LYNKEUS’ capabilities as regards quality and control of the information chain between drone and firing station, particularly the precision of the target coordinate data.
