Brimstone Offered for Integration and Licence Manufacture
MBDA UK has signed an agreement with Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) on cooperation in the tank destroyer market sector, whereby MBDA’s Brimstone missile will be made available for integration into such vehicles as they are developed, the company announced on 18 May.
The agreement is a continuation of one inked in 2019 regarding cooperation between PGZ and British partners. It provides the basis for further cooperation, integration of the missile into customer-specific tank destroyer squadron concepts and production of Brimstone in Poland.
Sebastian Chwałek, PGZ CEO, said, “In difficult times it is good to have partners one can rely on. We are strengthening our co-operation with the UK defence industry, of which MBDA UK is a leading representative. Today’s agreement is another step towards establishing production of the latest-generation Brimstone missiles in the country. As a result of the Polish-British co-operation, a joint offer will be made to the Polish Armed Forces and allied forces, our companies will also enter supply chains.”
“By deepening our co-operation around Brimstone we will jointly support the development of Poland’s military and industrial capabilities and enhance the strategic ambition of our companies,” added Chris Allam, Managing Director of MBDA UK.
Poland’s Ottokar-Brzoza tank destroyer programme assumes the Polish armed forces will acquire a so-called ‘battery module’ of self-propelled tank destroyers , based on a modern platform and mounting modern, highly effective anti-tank guided missiles. In addition, the module will also include support and command vehicles.
The following companies have concluded the agreement: WZM S.A., WZU S.A.,OBRUM sp. z o.o.,Jelcz sp. z o.o.,Rosomak S.A. as well as representatives of the PGZ-OTTOKAR consortium: PGZ S.A. (leader of the consortium), HSW S.A.,MESKO S.A. and WZE S.A. The consortium is responsible for the development, production and delivery of tank destroyers, a new product in PGZ’s portfolio.
