Company Pursuing Additional Quality Accreditations
Brazilian defence firm Mac Jee, whose products range from rocket launchers through ‘energetic materials’ (explosives) to a range of compact batteries, received ISO 9001 certification this month. The company has dedicated significant effort from all departments to the qualification process, which was considerably accelerated over the last six months.
Following best practices, the company created a quality management system, mapping all processes and interactions, defining responsibilities and enabling transparent management of all steps in the production chain. According to Mac Jee’s Quality Supervisor, Ricardo Soares, an organization that is ISO 9001 certified is perceived by the market as a reference in the sector, from the perspectives of strategic, tactical and operational management. “The whole effort of certification is customer satisfaction and, for this, the various sectors and departments of the company are undergoing improvement. This reflects on a better quality product, which is very important,” he explained.
The quality management system aims to satisfy customer needs, verifying that the requirements stipulated at every stage have been fully met, within the agreed deadlines, thereby enabling the delivery of high quality products.
Mac Jee is also investing in gaining other certification processes, focusing on aeronautical, space and defence organizations. “The expectation at this point is to achieve the AS9100D: 2016 certification and, after that, carry out a roadmap for other important certifications such as the environmental standard ISO 14001,” Soares declared.
