£80 Million Includes Funding for Six New Patrol Boats
The London Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) recently contracted Babcock for a variety of services for the Metropolitan Police Force.
This includes the continued provision of essential fleet and engineering services, ensuring the availability of over 3,500 vehicles and associated specialist equipment; as well as the delivery of six specialist marine vessels for use by the Marine Policing Unit on the River Thames. With an aggregate value of around £80 million (€88.4 million) over the next three years, the contracts include:
• The current Met Fleet Services contract for the provision of repair and maintenance, logistics support and fleet administration, managed by Babcock since 2006, is extended by two years with effect from November 2020;
• The existing Met Transport service contract for specialist vehicle engineering services is extended by 17 months, also effective from November;
• A three-year contract, signed in September, for one command and control vessel and five fast patrol vessels, entailing full supply chain management, project management and engineering assurance.
