Company Unveils MEERKAT Retractable Weapon Station
Land Mobility Technologies (LMT) recently revealed it is under contract to deliver LM5 armoured vehicles to two undisclosed African nations, members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. Deliveries are to be completed in February 2017.
Built by International Armoured Group in the UAE as the JAWS APC, the 5t LM5 is based on the Toyota LAND CRUISER 200 chassis and drivetrain, with a top speed of 140km/h and a range of 600km derived from its 4.5l V8 diesel engine. Developed for border patrol and convoy security missions, the LM5 can accommodate up to eight personnel.
LMT also recently unveiled the 350kg MEERKAT retractable weapons station, which carries the 110kg Denel Mechatronics Self Defence Remotely Operated Weapon (SDROW), fitted with 5.56 or 7.62mm MGs or the Denel PMP INKUNZI STRIKE 20x42mm weapon system. The MEERKAT was first displayed in September at African Aerospace & Defence and generated significant interest, according to the company.
