Cements Growing Relationship with Leonardo
Lincad, the British manufacturer of bespoke batteries, chargers and power management solutions for military applications, announced on 21 February that it has won a further contract with Leonardo to supply batteries and other power management equipment for the Type 163 Laser Target Designator system.
The battle proven Type 163 Laser Target Designator addresses Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) and Joint Fires Observer (JFO) mission requirements to mark and control air launched weapons accurately onto the target at ranges up to 10 kilometres.
“We are delighted to be working with Leonardo again on their Type 163 Laser Target Designator system. We have worked with Leonardo and its predecessors over a number of years and they are a highly valued customer. It is a great demonstration of how the experience and expertise of an SME like Lincad can be employed to support the requirements of the global defence primes,” observed Lincad’s Joint Managing Director, Peter Slade.
“Ensuring we have the right support in our supply chain is absolutely critical for us and we had no hesitation in placing further orders with Lincad. The team there had already proved their technical expertise and commercial reliability through their contribution to our Type 163 Laser Target Designator and Laser Inertial Artillery Pointing System (LINAPS) programmes,” a Leonardo spokesperson added.
