Exploiting a Leading Photonics Technology Hub
Leonardo Electronics US, Inc., is to expand its presence in Arizona, the company announced on 6 December. Present in the Tucson area through Lasertel since 2009, the company has now outgrown its facilities and intends to build a 120,000sqft semiconductor laser manufacturing plant in Innovation Park, Oro Valley. Construction is expected to begin early next year.
Currently employing around 200, the company anticipates adding some 170 additional jobs over the next five years, primarily in engineering, production, quality control, IT, HR, marketing, business development, purchasing and finance. Total capital investment will be approximately $100 million, resulting in a total economic impact of $374 million over the next 10 years.
