Small-Calibre Remote-Controlled Naval Turret Family
Expanding its naval product portfolio, Leonardo is launching the LIONFISH range of small-calibre, remote-controlled turrets for naval applications, offering models ranging from 12.7-20mm calibre.
Featuring a common architecture, the LIONFISH turrets are compact, lightweight and offer ideal solutions for secondary – or even primary – defence on board a wide variety of vessels. A technologically advanced human-machine interface system is intuitive, reducing crew training requirements, and the architectural approach adopted offers excellent reliability and minimum maintenance, according to a company statement on 23 October.
Remote control of the turrets, conducted at a local control console, and the suite of Leonardo’s state-of-the-art electro-optical sensors which they are equipped with, allows for day/night target identification with extreme precision. Border and maritime traffic control, self-protection and the defeat of a variety of threats, including asymmetrical surface and airborne varieties, aree among the operating scenarios foreseen. Designed to meet the most stringent customer needs, LIONFISH integrates advanced technologies, the highest standards, and offers an attractive balance between cost and performance.
