First AL MANAMA Vessel Fully Upgraded, Ahead of Schedule

On 22 January at the Mina Salma headquarters of the Royal Bahrain Naval Force, Leonardo handed over the first fully upgraded AL MANAMA vessel, ahead of schedule and equipped with state of the art systems.

The 2015 contract calls for six vessels to be upgraded with a new weapon control system, together with training services and logistics. Leonardo has had a string of recent successes in Bahrain, including a contract to provide advanced air traffic control radar systems. The company is focusing significant efforts on converting additional opportunities in the Gulf states, where it sees its naval and land-based offerings as being particularly attractive.
