Upgrade Package Includes Advanced Weapon Control System, Training and Logistics
Leonardo announced on 15 November that it has delivered the second (of six) upgraded naval vessels to the Royal Bahrain Naval Force.
The vessel, the AL MUHARRAQ missile defence vessel, was delivered under a contract signed in 2015 for the upgrade of six vessels with new weapon control systems, to include training services and logistics support. The first vessel, the AL MANAMA, was delivered in December 2017, two months ahead of schedule.
Leonardo’s naval expertise encompasses turnkey combat management systems, naval guns and ammunition, manned and unmanned vehicles, sensors and underwater systems. It also includes satellite systems, advanced naval training and maintenance, support and logistics services. The company has a well-established track record in the upgrade of frigates, corvettes and offshore patrol vessels.
Leonardo has also supplied advanced air traffic control radar systems to Bahrain, where they are fundamental to the Gulf state’s national airspace management.
