$450 Million Acquisition Strengthens SES Government Solutions Offerings

Leonardo announced on 1 August that its subsidiary, Leonardo DRS, has completed the sale of its Global Enterprise Solutions (GES) business to SES Government Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SES.

The acquisition for a consideration of $450 million was completed after all regulatory approvals had been agreed. “While the DRS GES business has flourished, Leonardo DRS has shifted its portfolio focus, and selling it now makes the most business sense,” Leonardo DRS CEO, Bill Lynn, stated in March when the deal was announced. SES GS delivers satellite communication solutions leveraging its 70 satellites at geostationary and medium earth orbits, coupled with supporting ground infrastructure.

“The combination of SES GS and DRS GES businesses unites the leader in multi-orbit satellite networking with unparalleled US government satellite communications integration,” said SES GS President and CEO, Pete Hoene, in March.
