Drone-Based Explosive Detection Sensor
Laser Detect Systems (LDS) is unveiling the SpectroDrone, a drone-operated, laser-based explosive detection system, at the Israel HLS & Cyber Conference in Tel Aviv this week.
Following extensive laboratory and field testing, the system is being unveiled at the conference integrated onto the Airbotics OPTIMUS unmanned aerial system. LDS claims this to be, “the world’s first sensor system capable of detecting explosives, [IEDs] and other chemical compounds from a safe, standoff distance.”
With an operational radius of over 3km, SpectroDrone can detect explosives and hazardous materials in gas, liquid, powder or bulk form from distances of several metres, remotely analysing the materials in real time.
“The next generation of security lies in introducing unique technological capabilities, which I believe LDS and Airbotics bring jointly to market,” Ran Krauss, Airbotics CEO, told Moench.
