Excelitas Qioptics discusses its detectors for laser warning systems
Excelitas Qioptiqs presented its detectors for laser warning systems to MONS during DSEI 2017: “These small detectors can be installed in different angles on a platform to detect and provide precise angle-of-arrival (AoA) information of incident light emitted by laser ranger finders, laser target designators, and active laser Electro-Optic (EO) systems.”
The Excelitas EXACTD-362 detector comprises nine-element Si and InGaAs detector arrays that are assembled in a sandwich configuration, in conjunction with light guides and a 6-bit digital Gray code mask which, through shadowing of the individual channels, encode the incident laser beam AoA into a digital pattern.
“These systems have been used on helicopters, fixed wing aircraft and tanks, and it is currently being experimented by unnamed navies,” the Excelitas Qioptiqs’ spokesperson concludes.
