Already in Service in 16 Nations on Five Continents
Plasan is using LAAD 2019 to promote the latest variant in the SandCat armoured vehicle family, the STORMER 4×4.
The company already has vehicles operating in Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, but is also interested in expanding its footprint in the regional market. Aimed at military and internal security forces, the STORMER can transport 8-10 personnel, is protected to STANAG 4569 II+ and is around 75% cheaper than available 6×6 or 8×8 solutions, according to the company.
In line with the modular concept of the family, the customer can choose from 7-10 optional variants, that include armoured personnel carrier, command and control vehicle with radar and camera systems, an armoured engineer vehicle, a missile carrier and several others. There will be three different designs for the STORMER, the first of which has already been launched.
This has a monocoque hull, independent suspension on each wheel and a carrying capacity of 11 personnel.
“We are offering [STORMER] to the army in Colombia and Mexico. In Brazil, we are in discussions with the Federal Police for 12 units for troop transport,” commented Palasan’s Marketing and Business Development Director, Jerry Press.
The fourth-generation vehicle is currently operated in 16 countries on five continents. The payload ranges from 1,300-2,000kg, depending on the exact configuration. More ballistic protection can be added to the vehicle in appliqué fashion.
In addition to its vehicles, the company is also highlighting some of its developments of other capabilities that can be integrated into existing equipment to improve both survivability and situational awareness for crews and embarked personnel.
