LAAD 2019: Better Communications – Made Simple

INVISIO Control Units and Vehicle Intercom for Simpler, Better Connectivity

Participating in LAAD for the third time this year, aiming at increasing its presence in the Latin American market, Danish communications innovator INVISIO is highlighting its range of control units – including the V10, V20, V50 and V60 – of which over 100,000 units have already been sold globally.

Seeking to leverage its experience and sales history with special forces – an area in which the company’s efforts are primarily focused, according to Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing, Carsten Aagesen – the company will show visitors how the control units make communications simpler and easier. “It’s a very flexible system, capable of working with any radio, while the headset could be from INVISIO or basically any other manufacturer,” he commented.

The headsets offered by the company are focused on the high quality of communications, with the aim of providing the best possible hearing protection. The innovative and patented INVISIO Bone Conduction technology features a small microphone on the earplug that captures the vibrations of the speaker’s jawbone, converting those vibrations into voice and providing quality communications in extreme conditions. With hear-thru microphones and advanced algorithms, the headsets enable users to hear external sounds with the headsets on, recognising the exact direction from which the sounds originate, thereby generating better situational awareness. They also protect the wearer from hearing injuries while automatically reducing any dangerous noise levels in the event of explosions or other very loud events.

Additionally, the company is launching a small form factor vehicle intercom that weighs 500g, can be carried in a back pack and is capable of connecting several communications sources and as many users as needed. A soldier can connect his control unit to the intercom and will get immediate access to communications with, for example, vehicle-mounted radios, as well as intercom with the other operatives. Its small size means it can be placed almost anywhere in virtually any vehicle, land, sea or air – including legacy vehicles – without an existing intercom facility. Aagesen believes INVISIO has developed a ground-breaking intercom system that will help bridge current gaps between dismounted and mounted communications.

INVISIO now has a broad and versatile range of control units to suit the requirements of military and law enforcement professionals, ranging from the single com source V10 to the Quad-Com V60. This enables the company to provide the ‘best fit,’ tailored to user needs while still being commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and to strive to cater for the pressures on budgets and funding in NATO and NATO-friendly forces. “With this technology available, we see almost all professional users no longer wanting to compromise on their ability to communicate seamlessly in loud noise while being adequately hearing protected, and not compromising on the quality of the hear-thru or, in other words, their auditory situational awareness,” Aagesen stated.
