Italy Selects L3 to Deliver Fusion Night Vision Technology
L3 Warrior Sensor Systems announced 11 June that it has been selected by the Italian Ministry of Defence (MoD) to provide fusion night vision goggles as part of the country’s soldier modernisation programme (Soldato Futuro). Italy is the ninth NATO country, including the US, to purchase L3’s fusion technology.
“We are excited to add Italy to our growing list of fusion customers across the globe,” Serge Buchakjian, General Manager of International Solutions for Warrior Sensor Systems, said. “Our fusion technology delivers an operational advantage to the warfighter that enables them to locate, identify and engage targets at night and in adverse weather conditions.”
Fusion technology enables the soldier to switch from a thermal visual display to a traditional image-intensified display, or a combination of the two, without changing or adding a clip-on component to their goggle.
