$208 million for LAND 53 Phase 1BR
L-3 Communications announced on 14 November it has been awarded a contract, valued at $208 million, to deliver soldier modernisation technology to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) under the LAND 53 Phase 1BR programme.
Covering the provision of specialised night vision equipment, including binocular night vision goggles (incorporating white phosphor image intensification technology), a compact multifunction aiming laser with integrated white light capability and the next generation of lightweight, miniature laser rangefinders, the five year contract, which was awarded after a competitive bid process that included extensive field testing by the ADF, will be implemented by L-3 Warrior Systems in collaboration with Australia-based L-3 Oceania, both components of the company’s Electronic Systems business unit. Deliveries are expected to commence in mid-2017 and be completed in 2021.
L-3 Warrior Systems will also establish a new sustainment centre in Australia under the programme, to provide in-country logistics and regional customer support.
