Extraordinary high ballistic protection
Already unveiled at Eurosatory 2018, WELP Group brought its new VPAM 6 Helmet to this year’s KSK Symposium.
“The new combat helmet offers unprecedented bullet resistance in accordance to VPAM HVN 2009 protection class 6, which is equivalent to ballistic protection against calibre 7.62x39mm ammunition,” the company states. WELP Group notes that this extraordinary high ballistic protection is provided throughout the helmet’s entire surface area of 1,335cm2, also stating that the H6 PRO offers an unrestrictedly high 360-degree protection, meaning that the wearer will be fully protected even in the edge areas. These attributes make the new product unique in its category. WELP Group also informed that other helmet manufacturers often use different material combinations or deliberately abandon protection of these edge areas. The next step will be the certification of the helmet to the standards of the German Mellrichstadt Ballistic Laboratory (Beschussamt Mellrichstadt).
Citing WELP Group’s product announcement, the H6 PRO helmet owns an adjustable belt system. It secures the helmet reliably against accidental slipping. With its padded inserts, the helmet also offers a high degree of wearing comfort, with the flexible belt allowing adjustments to different head circumferences from 51 to 65 centimetres. In addition, the belt is constructed for one-handed adjustments, allowing the wearer to make quick adjustments on the helmet in action. Common accessories can easily be fitted to a flexible rail system on the helmet’s outside, without the need for screw holes through the outer shell, WELP Group underlines. The manufacturer describes the design of the H6 PRO as a prerequisite for the wearer to gain the best possible vision and to utilise existing night vision devices. Despite its full edge protection, the user’s hearing ability is only restricted minimally, WELP Group says.
“The new H6 PRO combat helmet provides its wearer a uniquely high ballistic protection level.” WELP Group speaks of a completely new and advanced product that can be adopted for special use (e.g. by Special Forces), withstanding the spectrum of ballistic threats from short to long (cal. 7.62x39mm) weapons.
