Forward-Leaning Partnership Seeks Additional Integration Opportunities
Kraken Technology Group and Leonardo have signed a partnership agreement covering the integration of the Italian company’s Black Scorpion mini torpedo system and Kraken’s K50 platform, the companies announced on 14 February.
Looking beyond enhancing the K50’s sub-surface capabilities, the partnership seeks to integrate a broader range of systems into future Kraken platforms – for example, the Lionfish turret family.
Currently unique, the K50 is a fully-integrated precision engagement fast-boat platform, designed to provide effective swarmed-strike response to littoral water threats. Heavily weaponised, it combines technologies to best effect in the protection of sovereign green-water infrastructure and interests. Additional Kraken platforms are under development, and will benefit from the forward looking nature of this agreement.
Black Scorpion is a cost-effective and highly flexible technology, designed to facilitate the engagement of sub-surface threats in challenging operational scenarios, while Lionfish constitutes a new, compact and lightweight family of small-calibre naval turrets, available in both 12.7mm and 20mm versions.
“Teaming with Leonardo and integrating their market leading defence systems will unlock yet another dimension in Kraken’s ability to effectively counter multi-domain threats above and below surface,” commented Kraken CEO, Mal Crease.
