Delivery of up to 150 Systems to Commence in 2021
BAE Systems has selected Kongsberg’s Medium Calibre Turret (MCT) for the USMC’s Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV-30) programme, the Norwegian company announced on 13 May.
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace will design, manufacture and deliver up to 150 MCT under the contract, with test article delivery commencing early next year, prior to series production. The MCT-30 is the first remotely-operated 30mm turret to be qualified and fielded in the United States. The system provides highly accurate firepower for wheeled or tracked combat vehicles and is remotely controlled and operated from a protected position inside the vehicle compartment for optimum crew safety. It leverages a linkless medium-calibre cannon providing lethality, extremely high reliability and multi-user functions for the USMC ACV and other platforms.

The US Army selected the MCT-30 in 2015, to increase the lethality of its STRYKER Brigade in Europe. The system has been fielded and operated with the Army as part of the European Deterrence Initiative since 2018. It is the primary armament and fire control system for the Infantry Carrier Vehicle – DRAGOON (ICV-D) STRYKERs. All MCT-30s, as well as any remote weapon stations, bound for US customers are manufactured in the company‘s Johnstown, PA facility, leveraging a US supply base located in over 30 states.
