Six Bridge-Layers, Simulators and Support Package Ahead of Schedule
Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) has rolled out the first (of six) Norwegian LEGUAN bridge-layers, built on a LEOPARD 2 chassis.
Despite the restrictions and constraints imposed by the pandemic, delivery of the engineer vehicles will commence well ahead of the contractually scheduled dates. In addition to the bridge-layers themselves, training simulators and a comprehensive support package will also be delivered to the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency.
Due in large part to the performance of the LEOPARD 2 chassis, the LEGUAN is already under contract with nine nations – and the bridge-laying system is used by armies from 19 countries around the globe. It is capable of transporting and erecting a single MLC80-class bridge of 26m span, or two 14m bridges, under combat conditions.
