First Vehicles to be Delivered by Year End 

Production has begun of the BARYS 6×6 infantry fighting vehicle, designed and built in the Republic of Kazakhstan, with first deliveries to special units of the nation’s armed forces expected by the end of 2021.

The vehicle is being manufactured by Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering, a 200-employee joint venture between global aerospace firm Paramount Group and the Kazakh defence and engineering company, Kazpetromash. The indigenous design offers what the firm claims is “unrivalled protection against landmines, IEDs, side-blasts and RPG attacks“. It is a winterised variant of Paramount’s MBOMBE 6 vehicle.

The vehicles, designed to meet a Kazakh Armed Forces requirement, seat up to eight troops plus two crew members and are capable of attaching and storing various weapon systems both internally and externally. The special units have recently completed a series of trials with the vehicle, in what are described as “diverse and very rugged conditions, during the extreme winter and summer conditions” in the Central Asian republic.

The indigenous production of the state-of-the-art BARYS 6×6 emblemises the country’s advanced industrial and engineering capabilities.”
