JENNY 600S Fuel Cell Increases Soldier Mobility

SFC and AG Group Deliver Man-Portable Energy Network to Belgian Special Forces

SFC Energy, through its distributor AG Group, has delivered an initial quantity of the man-portable SFC Energy Network to the Belgian Special Forces. The portable energy network will be used by the customer to reliably power soldier devices in a wide variety of missions in austere environments. The value of the initial order was €200,000.

SFC Energy Network consists of the portable JENNY 600S fuel cell, the SFC POWER MANAGER PM3G, and a series of accessories to reliably power devices and charge batteries in the field over extended periods. The high energy density of the fuel methanol cartridges – seven times greater than Lithium-Ion batteries – provides a typical saving in weight burden of up to 80% in a 96-hour mission, compared with conventional power supplies, according to the company. This increases mission autonomy, operational flexibility and mobility.

Dr. Peter Podesser, CEO of SFC Energy, told Mönch: “We see a growing demand for our market leading portfolio of portable, vehicle-based, stationary and back-up power products on the basis of fuel cells, as defence organisations are looking into new alternatives for tackling the increasing security challenges of our time.”
