Vessels Being Replaced Will Be Traded In

Damen Shipyards Group has received an order for two new STAN PATROL 4207 patrol vessels from the Jamaican Defence Force (JDF) as part of a fleet renewal programme. Both vessels were on stock and will be delivered by the end of 2016 after minor modification and outfitting. They will be named HMJS CORNWALL and MIDDLESEX. And are expected to arrive in Jamaica in January 2017, dependent on weather conditions for the Atlantic crossing.

The new vessels will replace COUNTY-class offshore patrol vessels HMJS CORNWALL, MIDDLESEX and SURREY in JDF Coast Guard service but inactive since 2005-2006. These vessels, also built by Damen, were commissioned on 8 November and handed over to Damen under the terms of the new contract. “A heavy lift ship will collect all three vessels in the coming weeks and transport them to the Netherlands. Following some updating and repair works at Damen Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam, we will offer them for sale via Damen Trading,” said Alan Borde, Damen Sales Manager America.
