Series Production Ready to Commence
Iveco Defence Vehicles opened its new production plant at Petresti in Romania on 9 April, having rapidly achieved construction and production ramp-up following groundbreaking in August last year.
A framework agreement signed with the Romanian MoD in December 2019 calls for the delivery of over 2,900 high-mobility trucks and committed Iveco to the Romanian production plant. Despite the challenges posed to supply chains across Europe, the plant is now ready to begin production, the company announced on 12 April. Once started, production capacity is expected to rapidly reach 440 units per year, with appropriate support from Iveco’s Italian plants.
“Our collaboration with Romania, which dates back to 2015, is today fully strengthened: this inauguration reveals how our strong commitment continues, including important local investments and collaborations,” stated Iveco Defence Vehicles’ CEO, Claudio Catalano, at the inaugural celebrations.
