$47 Million is First Export Win for Vehicle
Iveco Defesa in Siete Lagoas, Brazil, has supplied the Philippine Army with 28 GUARANI 6×6 armoured vehicles. At a total value of $47 million (€39.3 million), the contract marks the first export win for the vehicle.
The vehicles as delivered, to be used in the armoured personnel carrier (APC) role, feature a manned turret mounting a 12.7mm heavy machine gun or a 40mm automatic grenade launcher. Onboard systems include an E-LynX software-defined radio, a COMBAT NG command and control system and a TORCH-X combat management system, all supplied by Israel’s Elbit Systems.
The GUARANI was developed for the Brazilian Army, which is currently commissioning them into its mechanised units. It is also currently being evaluated by the Argentinian Army and MON understands that any vehicles procured may be assembled under license in Argentina.
