Large Defence Expo in Israel
This edition of ISDEF has the most number of exhibitors for a single defence exposition and conference held in Israel, according to organisers. More than 300 individual exhibiting companies from around the world were present at the opening of the event today, which will run for two more days in Tel Aviv.
Coincidently, ISDEF opens on the 50th anniversary of the famous Six-Day War when Israel’s neighbours underestimated the small, young nation’s preparedness, resolve and strength to repel a war on all her fronts. While the situation improved with some of its neighbours, half a century on, threats on all sides from new sources remain. This is a fact highlighted during the opening ceremony today.
According to an unnamed Israel industry source today, along with the changes in threats and technology facing, “the West,” in this decade, there is a distinct need to re-evaluate the rules of engagement by allied militaries and security forces. This will enable them to be more effective at neutralising an attack and – more importantly – reduce collateral damage, materiel losses and personnel deaths.
As asymmetric attacks from state and non-state actors increase in sophistication, Israel’s defence-military complex remains significantly ahead of its opponents, innovating and employing the best technologies available.
Israel’s defence exports represent the best possible systems for adaptability, functionality, multi-mission and money as a result. Moreover, as seen at ISDEF today, Israel is likely to be the leader in technology transfers and partnerships with its customer nations. ISDEF 2017 runs from 6-8 June 2017 at the Tel Aviv Convention Centre, Hall 2.
