European Force to Use Racal RA4000 Magna
Invisio has agreed a five-year deal, worth approximately SEK275 million ($29.5 million), with an unidentified European military to equip its heavy vehicle fleets with Racal Acoustics‘ digital RA4000 Magna headset.
The order follows Racal’s announcement last year that the Danish Army had agreed a seven-year framework deal worth $4.7million for the newly developed headset. The system, designed to meet the hearing-protection and communication requirements of combat vehicle crews, is the newest product in Invisio Group company Racal’s range. Racal says the headset offers 36dB active noise reduction, allowing longer missions to be conducted safely, and that the binaural system delivers high intelligibility of voice communications, enhancing the accuracy of crews’ situational awareness, and thereby increasing safety. It can be connected to any comms system via detachable leads.
“There is no doubt that [the headset] is a market-leading solution for high noise vehicle environments. We are now very much looking forward to addressing an array of ongoing and future modernization programs with this communication solution,” commented Invisio CEO, Lars Højgård Hansen.
No timescale for deliveries has been announced though, in a statement, Invisio said that Racal-branded products, in general, are delivered later than Invisio-branded products, and that “it is not unusual for the customer to request a first part-delivery within six months but not want the next delivery until 12-36 months later.”
