Invisio Receives Additional THPS Order

Supporting British hearing protection programme Invisio has received an order from its British partner Marlborough Communications Ltd (MCL), a subsidiary of Cohort, to provide hearing protection and communication systems for the British Tactical Hearing Protection System Dismounted Close Combat Users programme (THPS DCCU). The order value amounts to approx. SEK30 million (£3.2 million) and deliveries are planned for the second half of 2017.

The order for the Invisio system is part of a contract awarded to MCL by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) in 2015 covering the delivery of systems to the British Army, the Royal Navy, the Royal Air Force, and the Army Reserve. THPS is the modernisation programme for hearing protection and communications systems of the UK MoD.

The 2015 contract is for four years with options for a further three years and comprises Invisio hearing protection and communications system INVISIO S10. The solution provides the user with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in noisy environments, providing first rate hearing protection and situational awareness to personnel on operations, whilst offering more comfort.

Invisio has previously supplied the THPS programme with equipment corresponding to sales of approx. SEK150 million.

MCL was awarded an additional contract to provide In Ear Communication Devices (IECD) for RAF pilots and air crew, with an initial value of £2.3 million over five years with options for a further two years.

The contracts follow previous MoD contract awards for hearing protection announced in 2015 and more recently in March 2017. The IECD for RAF and air crews is being developed in conjunction with Banbury-based Advanced Communication Solutions (ACS).

“This is another great success for MCL, and its partners, in hearing protection,” Andy Thomis, Chief Executive of Cohort, said. “These two further contracts bring the total number of recent awards to four with a combined value to the Group of around £30 million, further cementing MCL’s position as the MOD’s leading supplier of hearing protection systems for the military. This and other recent contract awards enhance the visibility of future Group revenue”.
