Invisio Details THPS

Invisio receives additional order from the UK MoD

Invisio announced today that the initial order from the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) worth about SEK90 million was extended by an additional SEK15 million order, which means that the contract value now amounts to approx. SEK105 million. Deliveries will begin in the second quarter of 2017.

The contract with the British MoD was announced on 9  March 2017, and comprises hearing protection and communication ancillaries for specialist land, maritime, and air applications, supporting the Royal Navy, the Royal Air Force, and the Army Reserve. The contract is for four years with options for a fifth year and a complete mid-life enhancement at two and a half years. The contract follows previous MoD contract awards for a tactical hearing protection system (THPS), announced in 2015. The order was through Invisio’s UK based partner Marlborough Communications Ltd (MCL).

Invisio, through its partner MCL, was awarded a contract for supplying the UK MoD with a THPS for dismounted close combat users (DCCU). The original contract has been awarded for four years, with the option to extend it for a further three years. Invisio and MCL were awarded the contract to supply the UK MoD with the INVISIO S10 Hearing Protection System. The INVISIO S10 will be deployed across the British Army and further orders are expected over the life time of the contract to support the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.

We are of course very proud to have been awarded this contract together with MCL,” Lars Højgård Hansen, CEO of Invisio, told Monch last year. “We have worked tirelessly together over the last three years to create the best possible solution and win this important program that we believe, will serve as reference for other countries. The INVISIO S10 provides unrivalled hearing protection, situational awareness and crystal clear communications. We look forward to working with MCL and the UK MoD over the next four years to deliver this product to UK soldiers.”

In an interview with MILITARY TECHNOLOGY in issue #10/2016 (available here), Hansen explained how Invisio keeps up as an innovation leader: “The number one thing is that we align our innovation efforts with our business strategies. In our daily work almost all colleagues get acquainted with the industry across all functional and departmental areas. When people and their different points of view and experiences come together, they help create the types of innovations that a few individuals could not have conceived alone. We also focus on getting the most out of our collaboration with external partners in the industry where we seek inspiration and follow trends closely. Last but not least our customers are a huge source of inspiration, we have always taken pride in tailoring and adjusting features and performance. That has several times led to new levels of performance and innovation.”

At Eurosatory 2016, Invisio launched the INVISIO V20 control unit, fully compatible with other INVISIO systems, offering state of the art situational awareness and integration to other communication devices for soldiers with a single radio with one or two talk-groups. “Our new ultra-small control unit, the INVISIO V20, is designed to meet the needs of single team radio users,” Hansen concluded . “It is small, lightweight and rugged, and powers from the connected radio. Combined with our INVISIO X5 in-ear headset, the system offers a state-of-the art level of hearing protection whilst allowing the user to communicate and maintain a natural level of auditory situational awareness. The product is currently being tested and evaluated by customers around the world and we are enthusiastic about the result.”
