28 PIZARRO ICCV Simulators Networked Across Spain
Indra is to develop one of the most advanced armoured vehicle training centres in the world for the Spanish Army, the company announced on 9 February. Service entry for the 28 simulators in question is anticipated for 2022.
The Spanish MoD has contracted the company for 28 PIZARRO Phase I/II infantry/cavalry combat vehicle (ICCV) simulators, which will be incorporated into its serious games platform to create an advanced distributed simulation centre.
Indra will develop seven section simulators, each of them featuring four PIZARRO ICCV simulators. These will be installed at various bases around Spain, so that joint exercises can be conducted remotely. Training capacity will be enhanced by connecting the simulators to the Army’s serious games platform. Each of the 28 PIZARRO simulators will feature separate driver and turret simulators, allowing independent training for each crew member. There will be an instructor position for each section of four simulators from which the exercises will be managed.
Indra has a family of mission simulation systems to train troops for a range of missions and specialisations. The company has delivered simulators for the LEOPARD 2E tank and 50 VICTRIX simulators enabling infantry to train with their own weapons, as well as a range of aircraft, helicopter and advanced marksman simulation solutions.
