Indra to Supply LTR25 Radar to RAF

Long-range detection, rapid deployment and great ease of transportation

Indra has been awarded a contract to supply the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom with the Long Tactical Range 25 (LTR25, part of family of Lanza radars ) advanced long-range air defence deployable L-band (operating frequency range of 1-2GHz in the radio spectrum with a wavelength range of 30-15cm) radar.

The company will deliver the system later this year, meeting tight deadlines.

The Indra LTR25 L-band radar, part of the LANZA family, stands out for offering very high long-range detection capabilities, comparable to those of larger fixed radars, but with the added advantage of being able to operate very quickly and be transported in small aircraft, such as the C-130, the company states.

Currently, the LANZA radar family is in service with different configurations with the Spanish Air Force (procuring 10 3D long range LANZA radars for use in its Sistema Integrado de Mando y Control – SIMCA – programme), the Portuguese Air Force (as a NATO project, the Sultanate of Oman as part of an integrated early warning air defence system for its Royal Air Force) and the Uruguay Air Force (operating two LANZA radars since 2009).

As naval versions, two LANZA radars were acquired by the Spanish Navy, currently being considered in several opportunities worldwide.

The LTR25 features a wide operating bandwidth, essential for effective ECCM, distributed solid-state transmitter providing full coverage of the NATO D-band spectrum and an advanced technology planar array antenna, with high efficiency distribution, yielding exceptionally low sidelobe levels in both azimuth and elevation. Sidelobe blanking further enhances resistance to jamming.
