Collaboration with steep to Deliver A400M-Transportable ATC
Indra is to supply the primary radar and an air-traffic management automation system for the Bundeswehr’s containerised ‘airport-to-go’ programme.
The project, first announced in August by programme design lead, steep GmbH, involves the development, manufacture and delivery of an air traffic control (ATC) system that can be transported by air. The modular, ruggedised, containerised system will enable an airfield and approach control centre to be set up in a remote location. The system’s seven modules will be designed to be transported by common ground vehicles, while the entire capability will fit in an A400M transport aircraft. The system is envisioned as providing a capability that could be deployed in disaster recovery or humanitarian crisis situations. It will enable both military and civilian pilots to fly in to and out of ad-hoc air bases both day and night and in adverse weather conditions.
