Aims to Monitor Space Infrastructure
Indra and Bangalore-based Centum Electronics are to collaborate in a joint proposal to manufacture a space object observation and tracking radar for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the companies announced on 8 November.
Centum has been working with ISRO for 22 years, while Indra has developed one of the most powerful space surveillance radars in existence, currently operated by the Spanish Air and Space Force and, in turn, integrated into the European Space Surveillance and Tracking System.
“We’re one of the few companies in the world with the proven ability to supply these kinds of radars, which offer the power and accuracy required to detect small objects thousands of kilometers from Earth,” commented said Jaime Temes, International Commercial Director for Defence at Indra.
