Indo Defence 2016: Rohde & Schwarz Showcases Communications and Intelligence Portfolio

Counter-Microdrone solution enhances Rohde & Schwarz portfolio

At Indo Defence 2016, Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) demonstrates its comprehensive portfolio of integrated communications and radio reconnaissance solutions in hall A, on booth #117, presenting itself as a single-source supplier of integrated solutions for secure communications and radio intelligence.

The R&S ARDRONIS Counter-Microdrone solution is presented for the first time in Asia. The system enables users to identify microdrone (aka small unmanned aerial vehicles [UAV]) control signals early on, and locate the UAV’s operator and disrupt the control link.

In addition to effectively counteracting microdrone activity, this solution also offers the capability of integration into higher-order networked systems or flexible security systems. The threats arising from UAV affect, for example, critical infrastructures, VIPs and public events. They range from violation of privacy and industrial espionage to severe attacks. Drones could interfere with air traffic control (ATC) signals, seriously jeopardising airport safety. The R&S ARDRONIS solution is optimised for countering the threats arising from radio-controlled small UAVs.

Another highlight showcased is R&S NAVICS, a new, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)-based switching system for naval communications that offers innovative technology and a state-of-the-art, intuitive user interface.

The integrated naval communications systems from R&S offer an innovative design as well as outstanding ease of use and cost efficiency. The new R&S NAVICS VoIP-based switching system serves as a core component to deliver future-ready voice and data communications for all classes of ships. The system interconnects the onboard voice terminals and all other subsystems for internal and external communications via a uniform IP network. An intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) provides a modern and convenient means of operating the sophisticated system.

Furthermore, R&S introduces its new R&S DDF1555 compact direction finder. The R&S DDF1555 is the heart of a full-featured man-portable reconnaissance system for outdoor applications. It combines accurate direction finding with wideband monitoring capabilities. The direction finder is an ideal solution for applications that require portable and mobile direction finders for use in outdoor environments. The R&S DDF1555 expands the portfolio of the proven R&S COMINT/CESM solutions, which can be adapted to meet a broad range of requirements. R&S radio reconnaissance systems are deployed worldwide in mobile and stationary units on land as well as on naval and airborne platforms.

Another highlight on display in Jakarta is the R&S SDTR software-defined tactical radio, which provides secure and reliable communications in tactical applications. Designed to meet the highest technological standards, the radio enables state-of-the-art command and control capabilities, operational flexibility and integrative communications across the various branches of the armed forces. It additionally delivers simultaneous voice and data communications when used with waveforms from the R&S HDR family.

The portfolio on display at the show is rounded up with a demonstration of the competence of R&S in cybersecurity to achieve IT and network security. R&S protects the IT infrastructures of companies and governments against espionage and cyberattacks. Our award-winning IT security solutions range from compact off-the-shelf encryption products and next generation firewalls to competence in network traffic analytics and endpoint security software solutions for critical infrastructures.
