Indonesian-designed surface to surface missile

PT Sari Bahari is showing an entirely Indonesian-designed surface to surface missile (SSM) at Ibdo Defence 2016 in Jakarta, 2-5 November.

Designated PETIR (Lightning), the winged missile has an effective range of approximately 45km and uses GPS-based guidance for attacks on fixed targets, and features ant-radar and anti-jamming characteristics.  Power comes from a small turbojet, offering a speed of some 260km/h. The 1.85m missile has a wingspan of 1.5m and an all-up weight of 20kg, including a 10kg warhead provided by PT Dahana.

PETIR is launched on a rail/booster rocket system from land or from naval platforms, and a series of flight trials have been conducted since 2014. Mönch understands that the current variant is the first step in a development process aimed at a larger, more capable missile, with speeds of up to 500km/h and a range in the 60-70km bracket.
