UAE Companies Win 18 of 24 Contracts
At a press conference on 18 February the official spokespersons for IDEX and NAVDEX (Gen Mohammed Al Hassani and Naval Staff Col Fahad Nasser Saif Al Thehli respectively) announced the placing of 24 contracts, valued at AED7,019 million (€1,692 million) for the UAE armed forces. Of the 24 contracts, 18 (valued at AED1,148 million) were placed with Emirati companies.
The total value of contracts placed during the first two days of the exhibitions amounted to almost AED12 billion, the officials stated.
Contracts placed with international companies include:
• Raytheon (USA) – launchers for the PATRIOT air defence system (AED5.7 billion)
• SAWI Electronic (Austria) – upgrade and rehabilitation of mines (AED1 million)
• JSC High Precision (Russia) – spares and repairs for KORNET ATGW (AED12 million)
• Thales Air Systems (France) – technical support, equipment and spares for naval simulators (AED49 million)
• Patria (Finland) – technical support for Patria vehicles (AED30 million)
• Renault Trucks (France) – 30 trucks for UAE armed forces (AED49.4 million)
Contracts placed with UAE companies include:
• Al Fahad Security Systems – installation and maintenance of security systems (AED4.5 million)
• Abu Dhabi Autonomous – technical support for Presidential Guard video systems (AED6.2 million)
• Bin Hamoodah – maintenance, repair and spare parts (AED5 million)
• Ahmed Al Mazrouei – targets and services for Joint Air Command (AED4.9 million)
• Mableen – equipment and spares for the Air Force (AED12 million)
• International Golden Group – light ammunition (AED407 million)
• Mohammed Abdulrahman – Caterpillar vehicles, maintenance and spares (AED7 million)
• Al Sahraa – transport services, forklifts and equipment – (AD45 million)
• Al Taif – light and medium ammunition (AED4.3 million)
• EMARINE – telecommunications services for signals defence (AED6.8 million)
• Emirates Defence Technology – artillery systems spares and support (AED69 million)
• Site Technology – computer and security systems and maintenance (AED1.5 million)
• Rabdan Academy – establishment of a Military Qualifications Centre (AED140 million)
• Three Dimension Company – fitness centres for UAE armed forces (AED15 million)
• Concorde Medical Waste Company – treatment and services for medical waste (AED2.4 million)
• Injazat – telecommunications and software maintenance services (AED395 million)
• Augusta West Aviation Services – BMS system for Joint Air Command (AED7.1 million)
• Droo Defence – light and medium ammunition (AED14.5 million)
