IDEX: Wide Range of Support for Emirati Forces on Show

From Integrated Systems Through Complete Vehicles to Munitions and Components

Nexter is showcasing its extensive know-how in ground-based combat systems, artillery, weapons, robotic systems and munitions during IDEX 2019 in Abu Dhabi, 17-21 February.

Illustrating the group’s expertise in armoured vehicles, a LECLERC main battle tank (MBT) of the Emirati Army is on show, featuring with a modernisation kit and a micro-UAV. Artillery systems will also be featured with a virtual demonstration of the CAESAR 8×8 self-propelled howitzer and models of the 105LG1 towed howitzer and a CAESAR. These systems are used by several armies and have established reputations for robustness and accuracy. Complementing this offer, the TITUS armoured vehicle in its mission orchestration version will be displayed, featuring a remote control system: perfectly suited to interventions in the most complex environments, this armoured vehicle with extreme mobility can be controlled remotely by its crew.

Nexter Group is a key vendor for the French armed forces’ SCORPION programme and the main supplier of combat systems to the French Army. The IDEX display will offer full information on this iconic French programme, which is also destined to form the future backbone of the Belgian armed forces land component. The GRIFFON multi-role armoured vehicle, the JAGUAR armoured reconnaissance and combat vehicle, the SERVAL 4×4 light multi-role armoured vehicle and the upgraded LECLERC MBT (XLR) are all  on display.

Nexter also demonstrate its know-how in the equipment field. As an architect of robotic systems, the company exhibits a NERVA multi-mission mini-robot and an OPTIO-X20 robot armed with a 20mm cannon. In the field of digital systems, demonstrations of the FINDMP touch-table decision support system and the FINDEAGLE system are given throughout the exhibition. VIPER perimeter vision solutions, as well as virtual maintenance trainer systems for CAESAR, LECLERC and TITUS round out the range of combat support systems on show. In addition, the Nexter stand features the unmanned T40 turret and the CT40 AHS cannon. These weapons can be mounted on several types of armoured vehicle and allow for accurate firing and a wide range of effects.

As the third largest ammunition supplier in Europe, with one of the most comprehensive product catalogues, Nexter presents a selection from its extensive product line, which ranges from 20 to 155mm. In particular, what the company describes as ‘the artillery shell of the future’ – the 155mm KATANA, will be on display, along with tank and infantry ammunition from 90-120mm and naval ammunition up to 127mm calibre.
