Performing anti-air and anti-surface tasks
At IDEX 2017, the UAE company Siham Al Kahaleej Technoloy (SAKT, a join venture between Al Fattan Shipyard, 51%, and Melara Middle East, 49%) together with Leonardo and MBDA have launched a new multipurpose turret for naval applications designated SIHAM³.
A mock of the system can be seen on the SAKT booh at NAVDEX. SIHAM³ provides a comprehensive and stand alone solution able to be adapted on all types of warships and to perform both anti-air and anti-surface tasks. The system, reportedly integrated by AKT, combines the 30 mm Leonardo MARLIN naval gun with a twin launchers fr very short range MBDA MISTRAL missiles and the electro-optical fire control system Leonardo MEDUSA MK4/B system.
Three companies are aiming at completing the development of the product in view of the integration with a Combat Management System.
