IDEX 2017: CZ Focuses on P-10 and BREN 2

Increasing combat capabilities of armed forces

Ceská zbrojovka’s (CZ) main feature at IDEX are the CZ P-10 C striker fired pistol, and the CZ BREN 2 assault rifle.

Unveiled to the public at SHOT Show 2017, the CZ P-10 C is a newcomer in striker fired pistols for personal defence and armed forces. It is compact, therefore also suitable for concealed carry. According to CZ, the CZ P-10 is, “another level of a defence and service pistol, excelling in reliability, durability and refined shooting, greatly supported by the unique checkering and superb grip, which were designed using the new DiFEND methodology for ergonomics.”

Also included are magazine buttplates that increase the capacity from 15 to 17 cartridges in the 9×19 calibre, and three interchangeable backstraps for individual adjustment of size. Designed to minimise creep and stacking, the P-10’s trigger breaks at a clean 4-4.5lbs and rebounds with a short, positive reset, meaning single shots can be meticulously placed while follow-ups are effortless. The ‘C’ in the name indicates that it is compact in both frame and slide size, and magazines are of the same family as the hammer-fired P-07, meaning the P-10 C holds 15+1 in 9mm in a flush-fitting mag with extended bases allowing 17+1.Take-down of the P-10 will be familiar to most fans of striker-fired guns, and even more pleasing will be holster compatibility with some of the most common guns on the market.

The CZ BREN 2 is the next generation assault rifle from the CZ brand family of service weapons. This weapon was designed for the most demanding users from specialised units and armed forces operating anywhere in the world.

Today, the BREN is used by armed forces and security units in 42 countries of the world. The weapon´s design is based on proven tapping the combustion gases from the barrel with option of three-stage regulation of the piston mechanism. According to the company, “the CZ BREN 2 is characterised by extreme reliability and durability under all conditions exhibiting high accuracy and long service life.”

Light weight and compact dimensions make handling fast and comfortable. Controls are ambidextrous and easy to reach. Elaborated ergonomics guarantees outstanding shooting. Materials used are non-combustible or have increased fire resistance, as well as being resistant to impacts and mechanical damage. Basic disassembly and assembly for routine maintenance can be carried out without the need for any tools.

Immediately after introducing the CZ BREN 2 at Eurosatory 2016, the weapon attracted a strong interest from specialised unit personnel in a number of NATO countries and in several of these countries a successful testing has been already carried out. The most appreciated properties were absolute reliability, handling and accuracy.

It is a great weapon and we are proud that we can supply this weapon to the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic,” Lubomír Kovarík, General Manager of CZ, said. “These weapons increase combat capabilities of armed forces, which nowadays, when the security situation in the world is deteriorating are one of key factors.”
