Classrooms Equipped with Agueris Simulators
CMI Defence chose IDEX in Abu Dhabi on 17 February to unveil its high-tech training centre, known as Campus Cockerill.
Fully operational and ready to welcome its first trainees, the 100,000 sq m facility comprises high-tech classrooms, fully equipped training workshops that feature simulators from Agueris and access to a military firing range, as well as accommodations for up to 120 students. It is the perfect tool, the company says, to train military personnel on the use and maintenance of Cockerill weapon systems.
“With such a high-level training tool, we are now able to elevate our customers’ personnel to their required level of readiness: we can either train unexperienced soldiers or already expert crews. Our training offering combines classroom sessions, simulation sessions, workshop sessions on real systems and, of course, live-firing sessions, allowing our trainees to acquire the familiarity and the reflexes essential for the successful conduct of their missions. Our Training Centre is located in France but, beyond the facility itself, all our training assets, capabilities and personnel can of course be deployed wherever our customers are located,” observed CMI Defence Training Activities Coordinator, Guy Beusen, who will be presenting the company’s training approach to visitors throughout the exhibition.
In addition to the training and simulation offering, CMI Defence is also highlighting two variants of the Cockerill 3000 series turrets, currently in series production: the Cockerill 3030 FSV-AT, a manned 30mm cannon turret featuring BAYONET, the company’s anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) launcher;and the Cockerill 3105 AG, a manned assault gun turret equipped with the celebrated Cockerill 105mm gun. Also on display will be the CPWS Gen. 2 multi-role turret concept – a multi-mission, multi-configuration, lightweight and protected weapon system. Thanks to its unique configurable hatch, its under-armour reloading capability, its capacity to handle different main weapons (such as the M242 25mm or M230LF 30mm calibre cannon) and the fact it can be integrated onto all types of chassis from 4×4 to 8×8, the remotely operated CPWS Gen. 2 is an ideal solutions for armed forces seeking to conduct a variety of missions.
