Focus on Dry Support Bridge
WFEL will showcase its Dry Support Bridge (DSB) at IDEX in Abu Dhabi next week.
The world’s most technically advanced, rapidly deployable military bridge of its type, a crew of eight can deploy a DSB across a 46m gap in under 90 minutes. Its Military Load Classification (MLC) of 120 allows the heaviest of military vehicles to cross both wet and dry gaps. Moreover, the current growing state of readiness for many militaries around the world, combined with their greater involvement in support of natural disasters, illustrates the strategic importance of the dual-role capabilities of WFEL’s bridging systems.
The company’s rapidly deployable bridging systems provide temporary infrastructure and have the potential to be used in both in combat and natural disaster situations, greatly enhancing an army’s capability to manoeuvre rapidly across terrain as complex as rivers, ravines and man-made gaps
Already procured by the Australian, Philippines, Swiss, Turkish and US armed forces, the DSB is the longest non-reinforced bridge of its class anywhere in the world. Using an innovative launching mechanism, it is versatile and can be adapted to a variety of host vehicles in common military use, Rheinmetall MAN 10×10 fully armoured trucks, responding to the increasing threats faced by armed forces in today’s ever more complex military scenarios.
At IDEX, WFEL will be located on the Nexter/KMW booth, CP-320.
