SIMTAR Will Deliver Previously Unavailable Training Capability
Tecnobit, a Grupo Oesía company, is to develop an advanced artillery simulator for the UAE ground forces, the company announced at IDEX 2021 on 22 February. The Spanish company is exhibiting on a booth with its local partner, Al Badie Group.
The new simulator, designated SIMTAR, will leverage Tenobit’s experience in developing simulators for the Spanish and Brazilian armies (SIMACA and SIMAF respectively) and will provide UAE forces with a hitherto unavailable capability to train at the artillery battalion level and interface with manoeuvre units and command up to brigade level. It will also provide precision technical and tactical training on artillery doctrine procedures, allowing instruction in mission planning, ground reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition, preparation and execution of fire missions, and damage evaluation.
The system accurately simulates the environmental conditions and characteristics of all entities present on the virtual battlefield, using advanced artificial intelligence to autonomously emulate their behaviour in the simulation exercise, as if they were real units. The simulator also provides training for Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC), emulating close air support actions with the assistance of an aircraft directed from a pilot’s post.
