Enhanced Levels of Ballistic and Blast Protection

NIMR will unveil the second generation of its AJBAN 4×4 and HAFEET 6×6 platforms at IDEX in Abu Dhabi next week, thereby continuing to push the boundaries of technical excellence, dynamic performance, and modular structural design, the company stated on 17 February.

Featuring advanced blast mitigation and ballistic protection, the new platforms provide high levels of protection in harsh operational environments. Designed and engineered to meet the most demanding requirements, their monocoque architecture offers a higher degree of body rigidity, which contributes to greater agility and responsiveness.

The MK2 versions boast enhanced maintainability: the engine change time, for example, has been reduced from 10 hours to just 20 minutes. In addition, maximum payload capacity has been doubled, from 1.2-2.5 tonnes.

NIMR recently conducted landmine blast tests on the AJBAN MK2 in the desert, in collaboration with sister company LAHAB, demonstrating the effectiveness of its protection levels as its monocoque design enabled it to survive two powerful blasts. The company has also incorporated the latest technologies and electronic architectures into its vehicles. Complete platform versatility enables NIMR to modify platforms – even in mid-production – to meet evolving operational requirements of the customer. “Building a second-generation product that outshines the first is only possible to achieve when you learn from experience and listen to your customers, whilst keeping an eye on market and technological developments,” stated company CEO, Abri du Plessis.
